Although Saturday the 19th October dawned overcast and cool, many adventure racers and athletes braved the weather to take part in the annual St Dominic’s Academy Bundu Bash held at Balele Resort, Utrecht.
The serious cyclist took on the 40km Brushcutter challenge at pace, followed by the trail runners tackling the 10km run. The Chainsaw and Dustbuster events were well supported with children and adults taking part; with some really brave swimmers through the icy water, hard trail running and cyclist zipping through the bush.
Later in the morning, others enjoyed the more leisurely 4km Amble while the youngsters took on the Bundu Buddies event, showing great enthusiasm and energy.
The MBT track was technically challenging, while providing for some beautiful bushveld scenery and the occasional viewing of a wild animal. Despite the cool weather, the setting was perfect for a fantastic morning of adventure for everyone. Mugs of steaming hot chocolate, tea and coffee contributed towards washing down some dust and warming the bodies afterwards.
