The Gala Dinner was the grand finale of a hugely successful
series, a series that Zululand can be proud of. With an
increase of 30% riders and a series attracting riders from outside
of Zululand making up 35% of the field, the MiWay Big5 series is
set to grow from strength to strength.
We thank every rider for the support and especially those who
managed to complete the Challenge of all 5 rides, not an easy
challenge and the Finishers Medal is one to be proud of.
Congratulations to the age category and overall winners, with the
larger fields and riders competing from outside Zululand the
competition at every race has been fierce, keep the training going
as a win in 2012 is going to be even tougher.
The success of the series could not have been possible without
the support of our sponsors and on behalf of the Big 5 organisers
we thank you.
MiWay as the headline sponsor have given much credibility to our
series with TV adverts, marketing material and direct sponsorship,
Nashua provided sponsorship support, sponsored the Hluhluwe race
and was instrumental in the marketing and creating the hype around
the series. Umfolozi Casino sponsored the venues for the Expo and
Gala Dinner along with Jacque Steenkamp's Audio Visual expertise
plus they provided direct sponsorship and sponsored the Heatonville
race. The Zululand Observer sponsored all the advertising for the
series, Tangawezi Motors provided direct sponsorship and a watering
point at every race and Wetland Water sponsored the Monzi race plus
provided bottled water at every race.
We have all witnessed the tremendous boost in the series; this
would not have been possible without these Series sponsors.
At every race we have also had the support of the local
community and additional sponsors, International Mining Logistics
and services (IMLS), iMfolozi Municipality, Profert, Trappers, Zini
River Estates, Zululand Cycles and various other smaller
contributors, without whom the series could not have maintained the
high quality that the riders have enjoyed throughout.
We have already started the planning for the New Year with many
of the sponsors already committing to the 2012 year. Our objective
is to maintain the high quality race day experience and with the
Umfolozi Casino confirming their venue sponsorship we can again
commence the series with the Expo and Time Trial and end off with
the Gala Dinner.
We encourage every rider to please e-mail your input and ideas
for the next year, we have already had some requests for batching
to alleviate congestion and this type of debate we welcome as it
can only lead to the improvement of your race experience.
Keep those legs turning and we look forward to seeing you all
again in May 2012.
